Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Dental Assistant to join our dental team specializing in orthodontics and pediatric dentistry.
The Dental Assistant - Ortho / Pedo will work alongside our orthodontist and pediatric dentist to assist with patient care, treatment planning, and administrative tasks in a fast-paced and dynamic dental setting.
The ideal candidate must have a keen eye for detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work well under pressure.
Key
Responsibilities:
Assist with patient care in both orthodontic and pediatric dentistry procedures including, but not limited to, braces placement and removal, X-rays, sealants, fillings, extractions, and basic cleanings.
Prepare patients and rooms for dental procedures and maintain a clean and organized work area.
Assist with patient scheduling, billing, and treatment plan coordination.
Educate patients and their families on oral hygiene and dental care instructions.
Take accurate notes and maintain patient files.
Sterilize dental instruments and equipment following proper infection control protocols.
Maintain inventory and order dental supplies and equipment as needed.
Handle other administrative and office duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
High School diploma or equivalent is required.
Completion of an accredited dental assistant program is preferred.
Minimum of two years of experience in dental assisting, with a focus on orthodontics and pediatric dentistry is preferred.
Must have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to interact with patients, their families, and colleagues.
Must be detail-oriented and have strong organizational skills.
Must be able to multitask and work efficiently in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
Must have a current CPR certification.
Must maintain strict patient confidentiality and uphold HIPAA regulations.
Physical Demands:
Must be able to regularly sit, stand, and bend throughout the workday.
Must have the ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
Must have the ability to use clinical instruments and equipment accurately.
Working Conditions:
Flexible working hours, including evenings and weekends.
Working indoors in a dental office setting.
Exposure to dental materials, instruments, and equipment.
