Safety Technician

Conducts workstation evaluations to identify specific problem areas involving how an employee interacts with their workspace environment. Coordinates contingency telecommunication device testing. Aids the Safety Specialist in the preparation, filing and processing of submissions of findings and correction/remediation data and with the reporting associated with the environmental tours programs and activities such as Annual Workplace Evaluation, Weekly Environmental Rounds and Safety and Sanitation Rounds. Manages the Safety and Health fund control point. Supports Safety and Health functions in the execution of Fiscal Year End activities in financial management functions, provides tracking information and assists management and program managers in the budget preparation process. Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-07 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-06. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. Note:

Experience:
Knowledge of investigative techniques relative to ergonomic evaluations to identify problem areas involving how an employee interacts with their workspace environment. Some knowledge on conducting safety inspections of VANCHCS properties, including leased property, for fire safety, risk evaluation and hazard prevention in coordination with other subject matter experts that meet or exceed recommend time intervals. Some knowledge in the area of inspections, interviews and evaluations when unsafe reports are filed. Some knowledge on how to communicate with and make notification to appropriate authority when immediate intervention is required. Some knowledge on preparing responses to OSHA on, reports or alleged reports of unsafe or unhealthy conditions and other agencies as required. You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below:
Specialized
Experience:
Applicants must have one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade (GS-06) in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to:
(1) identifying, preventing, or eliminating safety hazards in work methods or environment conditions; or (2) safety training or promotion. Such experience must have provided a practical knowledge or occupational and environmental safety hazards, survey techniques, and control and preventive methods. OR Education:
Applicants may substitute education for the specialized experience required for the GS-07 level one (1) full year of graduate education or internship only in those instances where it is directly related to the work of the position, such as safety, fire prevention, industrial hygiene, or other directly related subjects that provided the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. OR Combination:
Applicants may also combine education and experience to qualify at the GS-07 level. To calculate, first identify the percentage of required education you have earned (when substituting, you cannot use the first 60 semester hours you earned). Then identify the percentage of required experience you possess. Add the two percentages. The total percentage must equal at least 100 percent to qualify at the GS-07. For example, an applicant who has 9 semester hours of graduate level education (i.e. 50% of graduate education required) and 6 months of creditable specialized experience (i.e. 50% of the required experience) would equal 100% of the required experience for the position. Physical Requirements:

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
