Human Resources Assistant (ER/LR)

Controls and responds to incoming and outgoing correspondence. Responds to a variety of inquiries regarding program policy and procedures. Screens questions or complaints from employees and union inquiries by determining the nature and scope of the problem. Provides technical guidance, information, and assistance for a variety of Employee Relations programs such as disciplinary actions, grievances, appeals, complaints, and drug testing. Evaluates sensitive personnel issues and counsels employees on the requirements and repercussions of viable options. Identifies relevant facts and issues, analyzes individual circumstances, interprets data to determine facts surrounding required actions, determines relevant guidance and procedures, prepares reports and recommends appropriate corrective actions commensurate with assignment. Promotion Potential:
The selectee may be promoted to the full performance level without further competition when all regulatory, qualification, and performance requirements are met. Selection at a lower grade level does not guarantee promotion to the full performance level. Work Schedule:

Specialized Experience (GS-06):
Applicants must have one (1) year specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade (GS-05) in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience includes, but not limited to:
(1) Responding to request for information; (2) Preparing forms, reports, and correspondence; (3) Researching and extracting information from policies, procedures and manuals; (4) Gathering and analyzing basic facts and drawing conclusions; and (5)Updating database records. Specialized Experience (GS-07):
Applicants must have one (1) year specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade (GS-06) in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience includes, but not limited to:
(1) Responding to requests for information related to human resources and employee inquiries; (2) Providing administrative support for an employee relations or labor relations program; (3) Conducting regulatory research for employee relations or labor relations. (4) Reviewing submissions to ensure compliance, such as appropriate signatures, timeliness, format and content; and (5) Analyzing and extracting information from policies, procedures and manuals. The work is primarily sedentary but may require some physical effort such as standing, walking, bending, sitting and carrying of light items. There are no special physical demands. The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
